We stress that
since the picture should be the focal point of each page in a heritage
scrapbook (which is actually a pictorial history of your family), you should use
the best picture possible. With photo restoration this becomes a possibility.
We have started doing photo restoration as a matter of necessity, since many of
the pictures we work with are well over a hundred years old and often have flaws
that would otherwise render them useless. Although these pictures may be
spotted, stained, crinkled, faded, torn, or marred in sundry other ways, they
are priceless treasures in the eyes of their owners. We feel that they
should be treated as such. More often than not these old photos are the only
connection to one's past. Therefore, restoring them to their former glory is
very important to us for those old photos can never be replaced.

Click on the above
image for a good look at the rather extensive damage on this picture of
a relative of a client of ours, then click on the restored image
below to see the excellent job that my partner did in restoring it. An
amazing transformation.
Be patient, the
images are large and so you may experience longer download times.

The above photo took a lot of work. The
difference was astounding! Needless to say our client became quite excited
when he saw the end result! |

The photos that
are entrusted to us for use in the albums that we create are pieces of history
frozen in time. They are the memories of those who handed them to us, their
legacy to be passed down from generation to generation.
We use Adobe
Photoshop 7.0 for all our photo restoration work and print the pictures out on
Kodak photo paper. (We prefer the “Soft Gloss”)
So, before
you give up on those old photos and decide not to use them, please consider
giving The Elegant Pen the opportunity to evaluate them for restoration. There
is no charge for a consultation. Perhaps we can be of assistance in making your
old photos come alive.
